Stuart Ludlam has decided to leave and join Sheffield FC. I wish him all the best. We did offer him terms which were less due to the budget cut but were similar percentages to everyone else but Stuart’s valuation of himself did not match what we were offering him and he has decided to join Sheffield FC on better terms. I wish him all the best for the future.
Last week Marc Roberts joined Buxton and even though we feel it was a big loss to lose such a young talented player, Marc wanted to leave Worksop and sign for Buxton. I think when a player goes out on loan for a whole season and gets to work with another manager then he is going to create a relationship that is going to only get stronger over that season. Marc is a fantastic talent but I wish him all the best for the new season and look forward to seeing him progress through the footballing pyramid.
Over the past month we have been meeting players and offering terms. I just wanted to clear a bit of miss information coming from Sheffield FC. We offered terms to only 3 players over the past month. We offered Jamie Hadfield, Richard Stirrup and Steve Woolley deals to come and sign for Worksop Town. But they have turned them down to stay at Sheffield FC in the division below for better money. The money which these players were talking were over our wage valuations for there experience and for what they have achieved. We spoke to a lot of players from a lot of different clubs about the opportunity to progress, develop and go on and achieve something in the future at a club that has forward thinking plans. We aren’t going to pay over the odds like some of the clubs.
Over the next 2 weeks leading to pre-season we will be adding players. By the end of this week we will be announcing more signings as we just about sorted with a couple of major signings. We are going to look a lot of players through pre-season which is why we probably have a lot of pre-season games arranged. We arranged the extra games so we can look at some of the youth team players, trialists and some of the younger members of the squad.
With the Eastwood Town game now postponed we will be going over to a different badgers and playing our neighbours Retford United on the 13th July instead. There are also friendlies being arranged against Mickleover Sports, Penistone, Hallam FC and Dinnington Town hopefully too.
