Final touches to the squad
We have completed the final signings before the start of the season and I now feel we have a good young competitive squad that will progress and develop. I feel in a way very lucky to have the squad I have, most of these players have been neglected and released from professional and higher level non-league clubs. I think these players want an opportunity and need somewhere to help them. I am hoping that there hunger and desire to be successful will automatically bring the club success also.
Over the weekend we completed the signing of Liam Flynn the goalkeeper from Sheffield FC who played over 40 evo-stick games last season. Still only 21 years old and standing at 6″2 we feel with a bit of development Liam could put pressure on Ben and make the competition for the number 1 jersey better.
Nick Hague has also signed forms with the club. Nick has impressed this season. 18 years olds and a product from the Sheffield Wednesday academy. Nick has proved that he is a fantastic prospect as he can play in a number of positions and is the kind of player we won’t to develop at the club.
Tyler Williams is another youngster released from Sheffield United at the end of last season. Tyler is a young left back or left midfielder and impressed in the games at Dinnington Town and Shirebrook Town. Seen as another good young prospect by the club, we will be looking to develop and progress Tyler info men football.
Chris Salt is also an ex Sheffield United academy player who is looking to impress this season. Chris a 6″3 centre half who has recently been on trial at Barnsley. Still only 18 years old but looking to learn men’s football but Chris has already shown great promise in the last few weeks
Brad Kilburnn is no stranger to Worksop Town as he came on loan last season from Barnsley. Brad can play either right back or centre half and will help create competition and provides us with good quality in a number of different positions.
To complete the final signings is Alex Pursehouse who has impressed a lot of people since his first pre-season appearance against North Ferriby United. Alex started his career at Sheffield United before moving to Trammere Rovers. After leaving Trammere Alex signed for Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premier Division. Alex then went to make 15 SPL appearances before going out on loan at the end of last season at Brechin City. Alex left Kilmarnock at the end of last season and has joined Worksop Town been on trial with Alfreton Town and Guiesley in the early part of pre-season.
