On Saturday Worksop Town travel to Marston Road to take on Stafford Rangers as the Tigers look to continue their promotion push.
Mark Shaw will definitely be without Phil Roe who starts a two match ban whilst Evan Garnett is an injury doubt.
The Tigers shall be looking to complete the league double over Stafford, having won 5-0 at Sandy Lane earlier in the season; Tom Denton, Conor Higginson, Jack Muldoon, Leon Mettam and Phil Roe with the goals.
However, Worksop have a poor record at Marston Road having never won there! Last season a superb volley from Matt Young gave the Tigers the lead before goals from Karl Ashton, Liam Walshe and Fabrice Kasiama gave Stafford the points.
This season Stafford have struggled and currently lie in 22nd position with 28 points from 38 games.
Stafford’s form has improved since the experienced Graham Heathcote took over as manager from Andy Mutch at the beginning of January and they have only lost one of their last five home games; the last two home games have ended 2-2 against Blyth Spartans and Witton Albion respectively. On Tuesday evening Stafford lost 4-0 at FC United, but last Saturday became only the second team to win at Matlock in the league this season.
The first team has no midweek game next week, however, the transfer deadline for the Evo-Stik League is 5pm next Thursday. Will Mark Shaw look to strengthen the squad for the promotion run-in? Any signings will be announced on the official website.
On Monday evening Worksop Town U19’s are away at Basford United in the quarter-final of the League Cup. Basford top Division 1 and require five points from three games to guarantee the title.
Earlier in the season Basford won 4-0 at Worksop through two goals apiece from Joe Brothwell and Rhys Plackett.
If the U19’s defeat Basford they are away to Mansfield Town or Hallam FC on Thursday 24th April in the semi-final.
