Brighouse Town 3-1 Worksop Town
Brighouse took the lead in the 31st minute, a fierce strike from forward Jacob Burnham struck the bar and the ball fell kindly to the Brighouse number 10 who poked the ball into the back of the net.
Moments later Worksop should’ve had a penalty when Steven Wankiewicz flicked the ball on from a corner and it seemed to strike the Brighouse defenders hand, the referee had other ideas and gave Worksop a corner.
The host’s should’ve doubled their lead in the 49th minute, a Brighouse striker hit a fierce shot that cannoned off the post.
Worksop nearly drew level on the hour, Adam Scott sent a curling shot into the top corner only for the keeper to produce a fine save.
Mitch Husbands fired Worksop onto level terms after a great lay off from McDonell set Husbands up to steer the ball past Harry Stead for the equaliser.
Just two minutes later though the hosts regained the lead after a goal mouth scramble fell to their number 11 who tapped the ball into the goal.
Matty Parkin played emergency goalkeeper and handled the ball on the line to give Brighouse a penalty in the 85th minute, the number 11 stepped up to place the ball into the bottom right hand of the goal to strengthen the home sides lead to 3-1.
Steve Woolley nearly created a goal soon after with fizzing shot that was saved by Stead forcing a corner in which was the last action of the match.
