Hindley ‘Strength in Quality showed’
The Tigers bagged another five goals as they beat Aylestone Park 5-2 on a wet afternoon in Worksop. An Alec Denton hat-trick was the main talking point as the front man rounded the keeper for two of his goals and was a constant menace throughout. Sam Liversedge opened the scoring minutes after kick off with a volleyed finish into the roof of the net and Conor Higginson put the tie to bed with a late penalty.
Boss Ryan Hindley was again delighted with professionalism his side showed and he was glad to get the job done in style, he said to us afterwards, ‘We are a joy to watch going forward and that’s key, people can’t live with us. As long as we can do the defensive things right then I’m happy’.
Two new signings made their debuts in Lee Hill and Rhys Davies, the gaffer praised their contributions by saying, ‘Hilly came in and had a great debut, him and Thommo in that middle were wonderful all afternoon. Rhys has you’ve seen today is a very talented young man, he has pace to burn and I was pleased with his debut. It’s doubly pleasing for me that we can replace quality with quality when we get injuries, that’s vital’.
Hat-trick hero Alec Denton earned a rapturous applause when he was replaced by Mark Simpson and he rightly earned Hindley’s praise afterwards, Ryan said ‘Dents is loving life here, he’s been outstanding again in his back to goal play. He’s worked hard, ran the channels and got goals he mucky way as well so I’m delighted with Alec but I’m delighted with the supply he’s getting as well because a striker is only as good as the supply he receives’.
The Tigers looked leggy towards the end and conceded a consolation to the visitors, we appeared to be carrying a number of knocks and Hindley explained afterwards, ‘We’ve picked up a couple of niggles to both full-backs which looks like a hamstring problems for both. People sometimes forget that these are part-time footballers, we are in Saturday, Tuesday most weeks with training on Thursday as well so it’s tough on the legs but we are proving our fitness in my opinion, we always look like we are going to score which is testament to the lads’ fitness levels’.
