Worksop went out of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup after a last gasp extra time strike from Joe Lumsden saw the visitors go through.

Alec Denton scored an early goal on 4 minutes to put us ahead but the Steels were back on level terms shortly after half time.

The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes and a Matt Thompson tap in gave everybody the impression it was our night, Matt Varley then got sent off for a second booking and Stocksbridge scored two in two minutes to nick the tie late on.

Hindley was pleased with the most part but admitted he was happy to focus on the league and FA Vase, he said afterwards ‘It’s valuable minutes for some lads tonight, it’s frustrating to be leading twice and not win the game, a lot of extra time was added and I can’t say I particularly enjoyed the occasion. We did see two committed teams and it made for a good contest but we move on now to concentrate on the league’.

Jason Alexander was playing through a migraine and again pulled off some wonderful saves throughout and earned praise afterwards from the gaffer. The Tigers now have a weeks break before they face Barton Town, Ryan said ‘We are looking forward to a little break now, we won’t be sorry in a weeks time about tonight and are happy to focus on the league and Vase, we move close each week to welcoming back key players. We are off on a team bonding exercise on Saturday so we look forward to that weekend off, the lads have earned it’.
