Ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Rainworth Miners Welfare, Jake Brown managed to grab a chat with current captain Mitch Husbands and discuss life under the new regime, his new role as captain and welcoming back some old faces from inside the Rainworth camp.

You was appointed captain upon Duncan and Johns appointments, how did that come about and are you enjoying it?

The gaffer sat me down before the Garforth game and told me he was going to give me the captaincy whilst Steve was injured. I’m really enjoying it, it brings new responsibilities and I’m just trying my best to help the young lads through the games as much as possible and enjoying us develop as a group.

The boss has praised your attitude recently in his programme notes, what kind of impact have they made on the group and yourself since their arrival?

The coaching staff have indeed made a big impact on the group in the short period of time since they arrived, they obviously know a lot of the younger lads from their time at Balby and such like so that has really helped the new players settle in and come-a-custom to what is required to step up at this level. The older players, including myself, have really appreciated how great the gaffer and John have been with us. They’ve installed a solid structure which we are all working to and in time we will get things right.

How are you enjoying new/old role leading the line up top once more?

I must say I’m happy with getting the chance to play up-front again. The gaffer sat me down before his first game in charge against Clipstone and told me exactly what he wanted from me and what role he wanted me to play in the team and that really helped. He has put the confidence in me and I just need to repay him.

Ahead of tomorrow’s game we welcome back lots of familiar faces, in particular your good friend Kyle Jordan, how excited are you at the prospect of the game and does it add extra incentive to get three points?

I’m really looking forward to it yeah, I obviously know a lot of the Rainworth players and staff so its certainly not a game I want to lose. The extra incentive is already there as I don’t want to listen to Kyle bragging all next week! Hopefully with a good performance we will get the result we are looking for tomorrow.
