‘The glimpses in performances shows what we can do.’
Those were the praises sung by Worksop manager Duncan Milligan after a sterling 1-0 victory away to Harrogate Railway this past Monday night.
The result stopped a terrible run of 12 defeats in a row, the hard-working performance will be wanted again from Milligan and co in our last game of the season, away to Parkgate this Saturday afternoon.
We come into the game full of confidence after a fantastic much needed win, the confidence from Monday could see us take another three points this weekend, that would give us a massive boost going into a big summer and a new campaign.
Our opponents beat rock bottom Clipstone last weekend but followed it by getting hammered 5-0 at Bottesford in the week. Our opponents are leaking goals left, right and centre conceding 25 goals in their previous 6 matches as well as losing six on the spin.
A victory this Saturday would see our third double of the season after last Monday’s victory against Harrogate secured our second of the season. The reverse fixture saw us edge out a 2-1 victory, second half goals from Jordan Turner and Alec Denton gave us the victory in a nervy game that saw Denton snatch the victory with only 5 minutes left in the game.
We should be favourite’s to win this fixture but Milligan will have the players take nothing for granted and the fact our opponents are low in confidence at the back could be exploited by our attack this Saturday.
Everyone will be in party mood with it being the last game of the season. I’m sure we will turn out in our hundreds with the amazing support we get at every match. This game has the ingredients to be a memorable one for Worksop fans as we draw the curtain on another mediocre season. Let’s give the lads a great send off as we prepare for another promotion charge next campaign.
