A solid and professional performance from the Tigers oversaw a 2-0 victory away to Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
Goals from Danny Patterson from the spot and a Tomas Poole cracker made sure the Tigers were in the hat for the next round.
Centre-Half Matt Reay gained the ball deep inside the Hemsworth half, a strong shoulder barge from midfielder Jack Wakefield on Reay forced the defender to fall to the ground in front of the referee who pointed to the spot, up stepped Patterson tucking the ball comfortably into the top left hand corner, sending the Tigers into an early lead inside ten minutes.
On the 20 minute mark Worksop should and could’ve doubled the lead, full back Michael Trench’s unbelievable run down the left hand side was matched with an exquisite pass from Patterson whose pass fell into the path of the pacey full back whose shot rebounded off the keeper to striker Poole who couldn’t convert from 10 yards out.
Worksop were in cruise control five minutes before half-time, Poole’s first touch from out of the air was nothing short of brilliant, his finish was just as fantastic, hitting a half volley in the sweet spot that was too powerful for keeper Danny Rusling.
After a positive start to the second half for the Tigers, we nearly got a third, catching the Worksop fans by surprise. The Wells played the ball back to their keeper who attempted to clear the ball, his effort was blocked by that man again Poole whose deflection almost looped into the Hemsworth goal.
After the chance Worksop sat back and soaked up the pressure created by the hosts, the Wells huffed and puffed to carve out any kind of chance but the resolute defence of Worksop proved to be too much for the Hemsworth strike-force to handle.
The hosts almost got back into the game inside the last ten minutes, Bradley Dockerty squandered a great chance, weaving his way through the Worksop defence, he struck a fierce curling shot from the edge of the box however, the strikers attempt went wide of the goal summing up the Wells evening.
