Worksop Town supporters can now vote for their Player of the Month for November by clicking the link at the bottom of this article.
To help with your decision, here is a recap of our month.
The Tigers started November by completing the double over Goole AFC at Sandy Lane.
We got off to an early start when Matt Sykes superbly flicked the ball over the head of the defender before drilling his volley past the keeper, from the edge of the box.
Connor Brunt then confirmed all three points when he escaped into the opposition half, while they pushed up for the equaliser, and kept his composure as he rounded the keeper and slotted home in stoppage time.
The following midweek saw us bow out of the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Cup as we slipped to a 0-1 defeat at the expense of a late strike from former Evo-Stik rivals Frickley Athletic.
A draw to high flying Barton Town was next in the calendar.
Matthew Plummer stroked the ball into his own net in the opening few minutes to give the Tigers the lead.
Barton Town equalised just after half-time through McNamara before Owen Marshall put the visitors ahead after the hour point.
Worksop managed to snatch a point in final moments as Dave Reay’s pump upfield bounced over everyone in the box where Craig Mitchell was most alert to pounce on this gift and rescue the Tigers from defeat.
Hemsworth Miners Welfare then visited S80 for the fourth straight home fixture in November.
The Wells raced into a two goal lead. Nash Connolly needed two bites of the cherry to get his effort past Dave Reay, who superbly saved his first attempt.
Sam Jones then converted from twelve yards after a handball in the area.
Danny Patterson then threaded Matt Sykes through on goal which the winger delayed his shot until the keeper came off his line and Sykes squeezed the ball under the number one.
Hemsworth restored their two goal advantage as Seon Ripley converted Dockerty’s cross into the net.
Kyle Jordan react quickly to finish a rebounded effort from a Connor Brunt drive at goal however, the goal was nothing but a consolation as the referee blew moments later for full-time.
The final game of the month came away at Penistone Church.
The Tigers battled against the second placed side until they got the rub of the green in the closing stages.
McDonnell brought down a high ball from Woolley from which the strike accelerated towards goal before he was thwarted as he entered the area.
Matt Sykes stepped up and confidently fired the spot kick past the keeper.
Now it’s time for you to vote for your November Player of the Month from the following candidates;
Sykes is starting to become a regular in this vote, and with good reason! The winger has scored three goals in five games. He has also impressed in the manner of his strikes and excites people when he runs at defenders.
Reay has stepped up massively in the last few months and has won the Tigers points with the quality of his saves. His kicking, catching and overall decision-making has improved greatly. He made two point-blank saves against Barton Town, which ultimately set us up for a point, and more recently he pulled off five to six stops to keep a prolific Penistone forward line at bay.
‘Patto’ has changed many opinions over the course of this month. Whilst maintaining his gritty play style, he has managed to be smart in play and has recycled the ball on many occasions allowing the attacking players to have their freedom.
‘Vank’ is a no nonsense, fearless, classic centre-half who is Worksop Town through and through. In the past month, he was worked his way back into the team and has been superb!
