The Tigresses very own Lisha Pearson received some very good news last week as she was selected to play for the England College Team.
The central midfielder, who has also filled in at the back in defence, in the net as well as up front, is in her first spell with Worksop Town and has four goals to her tally so far.
Lisha had this to say on her call up;
“I was overwhelmed with the call after going through everything I’ve been through like losing my mum at 16. I finally feel as though I’ve found my break in life. I feel like I’ve got something to chase after and work towards. What better thing to do than represent your country playing football.
“I’ve had two different trials. It started off with around 50 people from South Yorkshire, but there were trials all over England going on. I got chosen to go through to phase two where there were around 37 of us from there it has been whittled down to 24 from all across England.
“I go to St George’s Park on the 11th of December for two days and it all starts then.
“I’m more than excited…ecstatic in fact! I just want to prove a point that anyone can make it, no matter their background.
“I hope this gives me the chance to perform on the world stage. I hope to inspire other young kids to give them the vision of being better than what they think they can be. I’m not in this to become famous, I’m in it to change people’s lives like it has changed mine.
“This is my first season with the Tigresses. Playing for Worksop is a pleasure. The girls are amazing and have done nothing but made me feel welcome since I first joined. Both Adam and Rob are amazing people and do nothing but try to give us girls the best opportunities they can!
“In regards to our performances I feel as though we are only getting stronger and better as both a team and as individuals”.
Ladies Manager Rob Hardy added;
“I’m proud of all my girls in the squad. I am proud of Lisha getting her call up and I know she will do well after all she’s had to cope with.
“She’s a fighter, she is passionate, and she will succeed because she is a true Tiger”.
Some of her teammates took to social media to share their congratulations and show their support.
Ellie Sheehan tweeted “I cannot explain how proud I am of my best friend right now!!”
We at Worksop Town wish Lisha all the best in her time away with England and a big congratulations.
