With 56% of the votes, you have decided that David Reay is your Player of the Month.
Reay joined in the summer from Stocksbridge Park Steels along with his brother Matt.
Since then he has improved with every game and is a vital part of Craig Denton’s side.
This month he has been outstanding in between the sticks, helping keep two clean sheets in the process.
He also made a string of crucial saves to help us gain a point against Barton Town and an important win over second-placed Penistone Church.
Dave had this to say on the award, this week’s win over Albion Sports, and next week’s important fixture against Yorkshire Amateur:
“It feels good to win this award, so thank you.
“We have had some good performances, a few clean sheets too. I think we’re not conceding as many as we were doing. I think we are more regimented, more structured, which is making my life a lot easier and we’re doing a lot better.
“I thought [against Albion] we stood off and soaked up a lot of their pressure. We should have pressed a lot more. We gave it a good shot, especially in the second half where we were able to get in and behind. But I don’t think they offered much.
“Overall we were massively better in the second half than the first half.
“We need to carry on the same as we have. We have a solid enough backline to contain one or two of them, and fingers crossed it should be another good day at the office.”
“Dave is someone who I brought in at an early date in pre-season. I met him a few times and he was all for coming to the club.
“I knew he had the qualities and attributes to play for Worksop Town.
“He is a goalkeeper at this level where you are bound to make a couple of mistakes, but in recent weeks his kicking and handling have been excellent and he fully deserves Player of the Month.
“He drives us on in games and makes some clinical saves, so it’s definitely deserved.”
Well done to Dave on his award!
