POST-MATCH | Reay: “There are fine margins in this league”
David Reay reviews today’s goalless draw against Barton Town.
Reay had an outstanding performance in between the sticks as he pulled off a string of smart saves to preserve his, and his side’s, clean sheet.
Dave felt his team needed to be better on the ball and going forward.
“First of all, if we had scored the penalty it probably would have been a different game overall.
“It was two teams who were trying to make a goal happen. I feel we can be better.
“We were defending from the off. Going forward I felt we should have been cuter and better with the ball.
“I guess you’d have taken a point here. I wasn’t feeling 100% myself so I’m surprised I played as well as I did, but we need to better to get where we want to be.”
The goalkeeper then moved onto next week’s Sandy Lane derby.
“Next week, I believe, we will have to defend like we did today because they will be at us.
“I’m sure it will be heated. We need to manage the game well and take our chances and that’s simply it.
“There are fine margins in this league. As you can see, a lot of teams are beating each other. As I said, it’s fine margins so if we bag a goal we might just nick it, so fingers crossed.”
The Worksop number one finished with a little message to the fans.
“Get down to Sandy Lane next week; we will need all the support we can get. The fans will like big games so I think there’ll be a big crowd. This will spur us on and I’m looking forward to it.”
The Tigers are “away” at Handsworth Parramore on Saturday 12th January in what promises to be a highly-contested 90 minutes.
