Matt Sykes helped his side thrash Thackley AFC with a hat-trick and to keep the Tigers in the promotion hunt.
Sykes got the ball rolling as he nodded Jordan’s flick-on over the keeper in the eight minute.
Sykes then scored in the 66th and 83rd minute to ensure the Tigers gained three points.
Matt Sykes was disappointed with the first-half display but was happy with the win and his three goals.
“Like last week, we started off really quick. Then after half-time we started really slow and it’s taken another couple of goals to be comfortable, which shouldn’t be happening; we should be scoring whilst keeping them at bay.
“We were a little disappointed coming in after the game as we thought we could do more, but like you say it’s a win and a hat-trick as well, so I won’t be negative about those.
“I’m happy and I think the team are happy with the result, but we are disappointed with that second-half performance.”
This win means the Tigers are unbeaten in the month of January. Matt believes this is a massive positive going into a hard run of fixtures.
“We’re unbeaten this month and it has been good.
“We’ve picked up from the 0-0’s and after those we were a little worried, but we know we shouldn’t be as we can score goals; the last three games have shown that.
“This is a positive going into some tough games, but we have enough quality to get some good points on the board.”
Next week is a massive clash between two promotion candidates as we travel up to Hemsworth Miners Welfare on Saturday, 2nd February.
“It will be a good game.
“It’s local to me, around ten minutes away.
“They’re a good team, but if we do things right and put together today’s first half performance and last weeks and make them into a full ninety, then I think we’ll be fine.”
