Matthew Sykes has been voted Supporters’ Player of the Month after a successful period.
The in-form winger has bagged the award for the second month running after also scooping the prize for January.
The former Nottingham Forest product boasted 34% of the public vote to win the accolade.
Sykes netted five times in six games to notch up his tally to 24 for the campaign.
Arguably, the pick of the bunch came against Knaresborough Town where Sykes unleashed a blistering volley to get the ball rolling in a game where the Tigers ran out 4-1 victors.
Sykes had this to say on receiving the accolade:
“It’s really nice to get the award, particularly this month as it could have gone to any of the four candidates.
“It was a huge month and one in which we’ve come out unscathed.
“The only issue is we’ve now got a massive month ahead of us again.
“We couldn’t have started March in better fashion yesterday, but this month’s fixtures are relentless for us with most of the top teams to play.
“I think the proof is in the recent results that the fans are the twelfth man. It makes a massive difference when teams come to play us if we make the ground a fortress, so keep the attendances up along with the noise and I’m confident we’ll have lots to celebrate over the next two months.”
Well done to Matt on his award.
