Craig Denton took time out of the celebrations to sum up the afternoon for the Tigers – which saw them run out 2-1 winners over Eccleshill United.
“Firstly, I’d like to thank Eccleshill for giving us a guard of honour as we walked out, which was a lovely touch from them.
“When we arrived here this afternoon, we were concentrating on putting on a great display for our supporters. The conditions were absolutely shocking for ourselves and for Eccleshill United.
“Both sides had chances, but to be honest it was a very sloppy game; as mentioned, the conditions did dictate it.
“When the full-time whistle went, we were able to go around and clap our wonderful supporters and then go and receive the trophy on the balcony, which we though was actually going to fall down as we were bouncing on it!
“The supporters are in the clubhouse now having a sing and a drink, which sums today up really. This town and this community have come back together.
“It has been a fantastic day and a great way to end the season, but now we regroup and go into Tuesday night’s cup semi-final against a very strong Hemsworth Miners Welfare side, where we look to maintain those high standards and good performances.”
