Manager Craig Denton has moved to sign striker Jermaine Palmer from Ilkeston Town.

The forward has played professionally for the likes of Stoke City and Grimsby Town, and has also played for Víkingur in Iceland, where he scored three times in eight games in a loan spell.

After leaving the Mariners, Palmer has spent around 14 years in the non-league pyramid, representing the likes of Scarborough, Grantham Town, Corby Town, Long Eaton United and many more.

The 32-year-old also previously played for the Tigers in 2008.

Palmer stated: “I’m happy to be joining Worksop Town.

“I’ve had a spell here before and I enjoyed it here then. It’s a good club and I can’t wait to get started.

“What attracted me back to the club is how keen the gaffer was to get me signed – and how honest he is. It’s very rare to find honesty and a straightforward person in football these days.

“I will bring experience. I would say I’m an old-fashioned centre-forward up for a battle and to link up the play. I’m sure I will help with a few goals too.”

Manager Craig Denton is very happy with the capture of the forward.

“I’m absolutely delighted that we have managed to get Palmer into the club.

“In recent months he has been at Ilkeston Town and hopefully, we will come in and strengthen us.

“He offers us something a little bit different when going forward with his experience and pedigree from where he has been, which will give us a big boost.”

Palmer is available for Saturday’s clash with Kidsgrove Athletic.

Welcome to the Tigers, Jermaine!
