Worksop Town are delighted to announce our new Under-21’s and Under-18’s structure going into the future. We will also introduce the coaching staff for these sides.

Our Under-21s team is as follows:

Manager – Ryan Hall

Assistant Manager – Joe Kenny

Coach – Ryan Hopkinson

Ryan Hall

Ryan’s playing career includes various clubs at NCEL level and he gained valuable coaching experience with Sheffield FC Women – working with some of the best coaches at the time.

Using playing knowledge and past experience on the training pitch, he has devised his style of play around attacking football. Having played for Craig Denton in the past, he is very keen to work alongside him and develop future first team players with the right mentality for the club.

Ryan stated: “I am delighted and privileged to have been given an opportunity to start my coaching career in the Worksop Town Development set-up. The club has a huge pedigree in non-league football and I can’t wait to get going.

“We’ve had a good pre-season so far with 2 draws but plenty of attacking play, and we’ve built a great young, hungry squad for the season ahead. We want to create a winning mentality with the right work ethic in our young lads so when called upon, they match the values of the first team.

“We’ve got two weeks until our season starts on 12th September at Sandy Lane against Staveley Miners Welfare. It would be great to see the famous Worksop Town fans down here supporting the lads in our first game!”

Joe Kenny

Joe is a young coach who is just starting out and wanting to learn his trade with us. He has previously coached at Worsborough Bridge Under-19s and played at this level with Parkgate FC. Doing his badges through the club, he will be pivotal to helping build the success the club wants at youth level.

Ryan Hopkinson

Ryan is a young, technical coach who has come through the ranks with his coaching – he currently boasts over five years of specialised knowledge in football. He holds a degree in Football Coaching, Development and Administration, and currently completing his FA UEFA B qualification. His experience of coaching in club settings includes Sheffield United, Frickley Athletic and Penistone Church.

Our Under-18s team is as follows:

Head Coach – Scott Willis

Assistant Coach – Jon Ling

Goalkeeper Coach – Jamie Green

Scott Willis

Scott is head coach of the Under-18s set-up and has experience at that level as he is also a coach with the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Under-18s representative team, which is where they select the best talent in the Sheffield & Hallamshire area to play other county FA representative teams all across the UK. Willis is also a development coach and scout at Sheffield United’s Academy.

Scott said: “When the opportunity arose to join Worksop Town as part of their new Under-18s team, we were very excited at the opportunity and for the prospect this could have for the 16-to-18-year-olds within the area. The club has such a long and rich history and a fantastic senior team and great facilities, which made it an easy decision to make.

“The Under-18s coaching team are passionate about creating players of the future and we feel that Worksop Town can provide those players with the right pathway from the Under-18s, to the Under-21s, and hopefully into the first team and maybe beyond. We believe that by creating an environment where the players can learn and explore new ideas within our sessions and be encouraged to express their footballing talents, they would improve more quickly, increase their enjoyment and buy into the philosophies we teach.”

Jon Ling

Jon has been a coach for a good few years and is also a scout and a shadow coach for Sheffield United’s Academy.

Jamie Green

Jamie has many years of experience as a goalkeeper coach and has worked with Scott Willis for the last three seasons. He brings a great balance to the coaching team and knowledge to the players.
