Lee Hill netted on his return to the Tigers in what he described as a “brilliant” performance in a 4-1 win against Cleethorpes Town.
Hill gave full credit to his teammates for the display that the Tigers produced and specified that Worksop got their tactics spot on today.
Hill stated: “I thought we were brilliant today. I felt good to be back and keep my unbeaten run going.
“Today was absolutely class from back to front. Mitch [Craig Mitchell] held the ball up really well, which was one of the main things today to make it stick up top and keeping hold of possession, and he was brilliant in helping us do that.
“The wide men were great, as was everyone; Macca [Steven McDonnell] on the right, Deegan [Atherton] was solid at the back, just everyone was brilliant from start to finish.
“I thought we [the back four] were brilliant. I got turned a few times, but I don’t think I have kicked a ball for eight months. The communication at the back was the main thing and we kept our shape, which was good.”
The full-back made his debut for the third time after Hill had left the Tigers at the end of the last campaign following Worksop’s double-winning season, and what a way it was to mark the occasion as Hill thumped a deflected cross from McDonnell into the top corner from the edge of the box.
He continued: “I knew it was going in the stanchion. I just lashed at it and hoped it went in and it did.
“Hearing that roar again was brilliant. I went looking for Richard Nelson to jump into the crowd like last season to celebrate, but I couldn’t find him!”
The win means that the Tigers have been undefeated in 21 games in which Lee Hill has featured.
