Match Report

An impressive 390 strong crowd witnessed a five goal thriller at Sandy Lane as Worksop stunned league favourites Bridlington Town.
A brace from Jake Currie and one from fellow striker Mark Simpson secured all three points for the Tigers. Bridlington took the lead twice from Fraser Papprill and Brett Agnew respectively.

After a cagey first 15 minutes the Seasiders scored first through centre half Papprill whose deflected header found a way past Worksop keeper Jon Kennedy.

Controversial scenes as far as Bridlington were concerned just before the half hour mark when Jake Currie was pushed in the chest by Seasiders full back Jack Walters inside the visitors box after the goalkeeper collected the ball. Referee Samuel Kane had a word with his linesman and the referee awarded Worksop a penalty, new signing Mark Simpson stepped up to slot the ball into the right hand side of the goal to draw the Tigers level.

Bridlington talisman Agnew was back at Sandy Lane to score again against Worksop some moments later. Five minutes before the interval Agnew was put though on goal courtesy of a neat ball into his path, the striker hit a low drive which found the left hand corner of the Tigers goal which put the Seasiders ahead.

Worksop got back on level terms for the second time in the game with 15 minutes to go, a fantastic finish from 10 yards out by forward Currie tucking his shot under the keeper following a great interchange of passing from the two front men.

An absolute pearler from Currie in the dying stages of the game meant we ended the night with all 3 points. The ball fell loose to the Tigers striker on the edge of the box who then rifled a shot into the top right hand corner of the Bridlington goal which gave Worksop the lead after much pressure for most of the second half from the hosts.
