Match Report

Worksop Town bounced back with a resounding away win at Clipstone.

All the five goals came in the second half, braces from Conor Higginson and Micah Bishop including a late goal from Kyle Jordan gave the Tigers a result they can be proud of.

Worksop were the more dominate side in the early stages, the best chance came in the 13th minute, a twenty yard strike from skipper Steve Woolley whose shot unfortunately found Alexander’s hands.
Just after the half hour mark Worksop striker Alec Denton made a clever run on goal beating the offside trap to collect an great ball sent towards goal, Denton’s attempt on goal beat the keeper but was cleared off the line by a Clipstone defender.

The Tigers hit the ground running in the second half and Higginson got himself on the scoresheet in his first game back at the club just a minute into the second half, Bishop was amongst the attack with a fine cross into Higginson who converted an easy tap in at the near post to put us 1-0 up.

Higginson then finished a fantastic move courtesy of a dangerous cross by Bishop which caused havoc in the Cobra’s box, Higginson was the first to react to a loose ball producing a fine curling finish that any striker would be proud of to give Worksop the breathing room they needed.

Tigers were soon in cruise control, a great ball over the top from the Worksop midfield put Bishop through and the Worksop winger beat the keeper with a cracking lob over the towering keeper landing into the Clipstone goal to put the game to bed.

Worksop were growing in confidence and got another goal in the dying stages, subs Liam Greenfield and Jordan linked up well and Greenfield’s cross over to the back post found Jordan’s head who converted a downward header to make the score line 4-0.

Bishop got his second of the game weaving in and out of the Clipstone defence to manufacture a fine finish past the host’s keeper at the near post giving Worksop an unassailable 5-0 lead to cap off a fine afternoon.
