Pontefract send Worksop crashing out of the FA Vase.

A brace from Micheal Dunn either side of half time and a Vaughan Redford strike sealed Worksop’s exit out of our last cup competition.

The Tigers started the much brighter of the two sides. Worksop midfielder Lee Hill produced a fantastic curling volley from the edge of the box but his shot swerved away from the keeper and the target.

Worksop kept up the tempo in the early stages, striker Jake Currie almost put the visitors in-front. Currie hit a teasing low drive from the edge of the box that unfortunately trickled past the post.

Worksop keeper Jason Alexander wobbled off due to an injury, this proved vital with his big presence in the box. Pontefract took the lead in the 38th minute after a great corner to the back post met by the unchallenged Dunn who then hit a fantastic strike that rifled into the Worksop goal to give the hosts the lead.

Tigers midfielder Lee Hill then had to come due to concussion, which was a big loss after playing a fantastic first half and was one of our better players.

We gave ourselves a mountain to climb after conceding early into the second half. Dunn got his second of the game in the 51st minute, a long throw into our box was flicked on to the back lost which Dunn headed past Fielding to give the Colls and unassailable lead.

Worksop struggled to create anything going forward in the second half. The best efforts was a Jordan Turner half-volley which caught the Pontefract keeper off of his line but couldn’t find the target. The other was a speculative effort from skipper Steve Woolley whose effort on goal was comfortably

Pontefract put the game beyond doubt, Redford collected the ball on the edge of the box and delivered a devastating curling strike from the edge of the Tigers box that beat the Worksop keeper Fielding.
