Quite the game at Dennyfield for the Tigers as it ended all square after a dramatic second half.
Charlie Baird and Michael Trench goals saw us take the lead within a couple of minutes of each other, both goals were scored as a result of powerful shots from the busy Harry Wakefield upfront having rebounded kindly to both recipients.
The second half began and ended with drama, Jed Phillips hit the post at one end and then Michael Trench could only trip Thackleys striker from behind when attempting to stop him going one on one with Fielding in goal, the resulting penalty was slotted in by Mike Garrod.
With just seconds to go Mike Garrod tapped in from virtually under Fielding’s cross bar to nick a point for the home side.
Caretaker Manager Craig Spink was understandably gutted at the full-time whistle and had this to say afterwards, ‘Desperatley disappointing for me tonight. First half we dominated the game and scored two goals, we looked well in control of the game. First five minutes of the second half we’ve had a chance, it’s gone up the other end and Trenchy has tried to get the ball but seen a red card and it totally changed the game. We defended like warriors for 40 minutes but unfortunately they’ve broke us down and got the equaliser in the 95th minute, the lads are desperately unlucky but we have to fight another day and go again’.
Spink was asked what he had learned about his squad in this last three games in charge, he said ‘For the last three games they’ve given me their heart, soul and everything else. They couldn’t have given me anymore, blood, sweat and tears, they’ve been outstanding for me and I couldn’t be more proud of the lads in the changing room’.
