Match Report

High flying Bridlington showed their quality after several errors from Worksop, resulting in a 4-1 defeat at Sandy Lane.

Chris Adams and Jake Day gave Bridlington a 2-0 advantage, followed by super sub Brett Agnew who scored two goals in two minutes giving the visitors a 4-0 lead. Scott Wesley replied for the Tigers with his first goal for the club.

The best chance for Worksop in the first half came in the 15th minute, Kennedy cleared a long ball down field which fell to Worksop striker Kyle Jordan who out muscled Bridlington centre half Fraser Paperill to the ball, Jordan then hit a fierce shot rattling the Bridlington goal.

Bridlington took the lead however in the 38th minute when a great through ball by Andy Norfolk put Chris Adams clear on goal. Adams beared down on Kennedy and produced a great finish into the bottom left hand corner of the Worksop goal to put the Seasiders ahead.

A disastrous start to the second half saw Bridlington double their lead in the 46th minute, a bad ball fell to Kennedy who was unable to clear it, it landed kindly to Jordan Harrison who squared the ball to an unmarked Day who tucked the ball into an empty Worksop net.

In the 69th minute a direct ball from the Bridlington keeper went over Aaron Pickersgill’s head, Bridlington striker Agnew who had just come onto the field chased a loose ball and beat the on-coming Worksop keeper Kennedy, putting himself through for a clear shot on goal to take a 3-0 lead for the visitors.

A minute later and the visitors put the icing on the cake, Agnew scored his second of the game to put the game out of Worksop’s sight. Day squared a ball deep into the Worksop box to Agnew who strook a fierce shot into the roof of the Tiger’s goal.

Wesley got off the mark with his first for Worksop which came in the 76th minute after a in-swinging corner from striker Jordan which centre half Wesley met with a firm header to make the score 4-1.
