Tigers Welcome Enforced Break
Tiger's manager Peter Rinkcavage welcomes the ten day break his side now have as he looks to rebuild his shattered squad. He said, “We now have a little time to take stock and see what our next moves are. We have several players injured so it will hopefully give them time to recover. The problem is we have Tom Jones, Kris Bowler, Ben Tomlinson and Adam Green all suspended for our next match at Ossett and as we know, it will be difficult, given our financial circumstances, to bring any new players in.”
Rinkcavage was disappointed with last night's defeat against Matlock but was not surprised by the result. Worksop had Tom Jones, Kevin Davies, Kris Bowler, Andy White, Ashley Foyle and Chris Glarvey all missing through injury or suspension and of course the Tiger's have recently lost Alex Callery, Kev Sanasy and Alistair Asher who have all left the club. It meant that Worksop were without nine of the squad they had just a month ago. Rinkcavage said, “These are very difficult times and the players are doing the best they can but it is difficult at this level to have several players playing out of position, eventually you get found out.”
Rinkcavage was involved in an altercation with one Tiger's supporter last night who vented his frustration at the manager and Rinkcavage said, “I was fuming to be honest. I know this certain supporter enjoys hearing his own voice, and I only hear it when we are losing, but last night was ridiculous. When he walked into the ground and saw our team sheet what did he expect? The vast majority of our fans have been brilliant, they know what we are going through and understand that things are going to be difficult. It was our first home defeat in the league for almost ten months so we haven't done bad have we? I honestly believe that last night, and the game at Burscough on Saturday, were games we would have won a month ago. The reality is that circumstances have changed since then.”
The Tigers' boss has faith in the players at the club and believes his team will stay out of a relegation dog fight. He said, “If we can keep this set of players together and we stay fit then we have no problems. We have some very good players at the club and when we can put our best team out we are a match for anybody. We have to get players back from injury and suspension and then I believe we will climb the table again. In the meantime we have got what we have got and we have to get on with it.”
Chris Glarvey and Ashley Foyle are expected to be both out for at least another three weeks but Chris Adam has returned from a loan spell and right back Rob Austin impressed on his debut last night to bring a much needed boost to the squad. Back... |
